I should have been more specific on communication; I was wodering about conversations with the fae.
My husband always accusies me of leaving important pieces out of our communications, like I expect him to read my mind and fill in the blanks. I figure if I can do it, he should be able to also!
Ahh, the fae . . .
. . . and "yes" your husband is right ; )
They don't actually talk like humans do. More like picking up concepts, which have a flavour that is associated with an individual someone. Truth be told, most of the time they just dump problems in my lap and I have to figure it out.
While I am at my keyboard writing here, if they are interested in the subject, a figure sometimes stands behind me with her hands on my shoulders. They can look through my eyes when they do that. Often they will choose words for example, and read over my shoulder - literally. The green-eyed girl does that, and "Alice" from the Fairy thread used to do it all the time. She would scold me and tell me off, like a wife ; )
I spose with non-humans it is concepts, language is a human thing.
Most of the human deceased kids from hundreds of years ago don't talk with words, they will play charades, so to speak. I guess they think in Celtic or middle English and know I wouldn't understand that.

ETA: I spose I should say that I am not a fan of voices , unless I know exactly who it is comming from. That said there is an ability of mind that can translate. Nevertheless, I don't associate that with non-human fae.
One might say that I have learned that 'voices' can be tricky when it comes to the source. The sense of taste is very accurate and very difficult to impersonate. It may sound icky to use the word "taste" in reference to the fae, and deceased humans for that matter. But one must be very careful in these things.
That said, perhaps the fae that know me would refraine from humanish behaviour such as speech. Unless I know them well, of course.
