There aren't many of us still kicking around that made it through that whole gauntlet of the buyout offer. Of those remaining by the end, most have disappeared.
I don't really have any animosity toward any specific parties. Even those that have dicked me around.
After logging out of my mod account due to the abandonment of the site, I had decided I was done with any sort of participation on forums once ATS died. I was not terribly interested in circular arguments about politics with delusional people. In that respect I understand why DI and/or the mods don't want to moderate politics. It's sort of crazy that grown adults are such rejects they need constant close supervision over words on a screen. Reeee- misinformation... I'm sorry everyone is too dumb to think for themselves on team censorship, but if you are aren't smart enough to think for yourselves you sure as hell aren't smart enough to think for me.
That said, it really irritated me that there seemed to be a closed vote on how "the community" moved on with this new site where politics was forbidden/discouraged. Let's not beat around the bush either... whatever the DNC and globalists decide has to be changed becomes political. The topics forbidden were going to end up being things that went against the DNC/globalist narratives and that is already starting to take shape. It's a losing battle to simply stop discussing things that cause underhanded forum tactics from activist clowns and people that are so insecure they need everything they consume to confirm their beliefs.
UAPs, ancient history, climate, public health, have all become political. It's pushed from on high, parroted by people that think reading Wikipedia makes them scientifically literate, and when the rubber meets the road you get banned from everywhere for showing how utterly retarded some of of these takes are.
So, I suggested that Myke politely and respectfully request permission to at least put MPP in his signature.
The decision to not allow this while DI continues to enjoy not only signature links, but wink and nudge promotion, irritated me.

I don't know what secret information there really is to know.
The site was shit. Darko fixed some stuff, but not much. It's not really hard for me to believe that somebody with only a passing interest in the topics covered on ATS wouldn't really give a shit about the community dynamics or even the survival of the community. The owner obviously considered it mostly a loss during the purchase, as we knew it would be when looking into buying. Easy come, easy go. Allegedly they had throwaway money, so it's not hard to imagine. People have million dollar homes that they never visit. Quite a life, I guess.
I think it was a huge mistake for the admin of DI to make their presence so forcefully known on ATS. I think it was a mistake to post about private discussions that were between them and others associated with ATS. I think it was a mistake to just transplant the mod team to a politics free clone of ATS, concurrently with ATS running. Some of the comments about contacting people connected -on a site that they're actively trying to hijack traffic from- were not very diplomatic. They were able to drag the ATS owners and people associated through the mud, but posting a link to MPP is a T&C violation, lol.
It's kinda bonkers, really. Forests seem to have become invisible behind all the trees.
I have no idea who that admin is and I haven't spoken to anybody that was actually on ATS when they were. Some of them have been around a while. I have no real information about who they are or where they came from in this whole ordeal. I don't really care if they knew Springer, or Bill, or whoever, two decades ago. Bill barely communicated with us during the buyout when we were planning to be giving him many wampum, so his passing knowledge of this other admin doesn't really mean anything to me. He's been around, so maybe he said far more than I'm aware of. I don't know that he even acknowledged knowing him, but it's been heavily insinuated that TSK has had conversations with everyone from Darko, to Bill, to Simon, to the ATS owner. I haven't kept track, but seemingly everywhere was inside information being shared.
I don't know, because there's been very little straight shooting going back a couple years now. Kinda a theme with ATS related stuff. It doesn't really matter as I'm not entitled to any special information. I just can only make decisions based on what I do know. I know I feel real sketched out when people publicly share direct information from personal conversations they've had. Naming names, telling details.. just isn't good form.
My personal policy is that the first time my private conversation gets attributed to me publicly, is the last time it happens with whoever shared it. I don't really make a lot of private statements that I'm not prepared to vigorously defend publicly, but that's not the point. I don't even care if my ideas are relayed... just don't attach my name to things that I'm not around to defend. A lot of the time the things shared are mostly drama rather than of any real merit anyway, but it shouldn't matter. It's just never works out quite the way intended.
Long-winded explanations aside, it was a lose-lose for TSK to be involved beyond setting up the refuge. It sold itself because it was the only option, but it started to appear that was creeping further and further into a defacto coup of ATS. Granted, you can't really coup an empty throne, but you can choose not to take a dump in the throne room afterward.
To reiterate, I have no real animosity toward anyone. I hope everyone finds a place where they can discuss the things they want. There seems to be animosity between the admin of DI and the ATS management, but I don't think ATS management cares enough to have an opinion. Myke, as is tradition, has made his position fairly clear without any ambiguity. I don't care much about the individual feelings between the parties. People get themselves feeling all sorts of ways and in five years most of it won't matter.
I'm just slightly irritated. The little muppet on TV says it's dangerous to ask why FEMA has spent large amounts of money on an immigration crisis they allow to continue year after year. They're paying hundreds of millions of dollars to their friends at NGOs handling refugees, it's got to be in the billions now after all these years, and there's no money left to pay their corporate disaster vendors to do more "charity". It seems like a really really bad time to NOT discuss politics. I think maybe everybody has to, before they're not allowed to anymore.
What things are you thinking people have information on? So much has happened I may be forgetting things. I've seen so much outlandish nonsense that I think it's far less exciting than what most people think. Most everything can be easily explained if you remember we're all just hairless primates in various stages of psychosis. There are many more detailed reasons, but they're all derivative of that one.
The reality is, unless things change significantly, MPP will be gone along with DI. The format is dying and those that survive are heavily moderated by people with questionable motives.
