Dowsing is a subject most people have at least heard of. Water divining, radiesthesia, and radionics all fall under the heading of dowsing. That is to say that the dowsing sense is needed by the dowser to do his business. The dowsing sense is regarded as a sixth sense, or psychic ability.
The dowsing tools, or rather instruments, vary from the simple pendulum and L-rod to the multi-dialed radionic black boxes.
Nevertheless, lots of people have done this throughout history to find water, diagnose soil deficiencies and health problems, to remedy selection among other things.
The problem is, it is generally regarded that only a small percentage of the population has this ability. A smaller percentage still are considered talented dowsers. Now that is a problem, not everyone can dowse even if they wanted to.
However, there is a solution.
In my early twenties, I worked for an earthmoving company, and the owner of this was a dowser. He would drive across a farmer's paddock with the L-rod in one hand, the steering wheel in the other, and stop when the rod responded. We would look for underground water streams in this manner.
Now at the time I couldn't dowse, the owner tried me out, and I couldn't get a response from the rods even when he knew where the water was.
So he got me to hold the L-rod in my hand and walk across the underground stream, demonstrating that there was no response from the rod. Then he put his hand on my shoulder and we repeated the exercise. Then the rods responded.
We repeated this a few times, and then he took is hand away. The L-rods continued to respond without his assistance when walking over an underground stream.
Half an hour before I couldn't dowse and then I could.
So what happened to change things? I asked him, and he said that he "just short-circuited something in you".
He enabled a non-dowser to dowse.
I've done this myself and enabled a non-dowser to dowse with the pendulum in exactly the same way.
My own thoughts on the matter are that the dowser dowses through the person holding the L-rod or pendulum as if he is holding the pendulum or L-rod himself. For all intents and purposes, this does actually short-circuit something or created a channel.
My suggestion is to find an experienced water diviner, and ask him politely. Of course, there are no guarantees from me that this is a failsafe method that works every time. The necessary research has not been done as far as I know. So if anyone here has done this, feel free to respond and let others know. The pooling of research and experience here will allow others to benefit.
I don't know why this is not widely known, as I have only heard of this from the fellow who taught me. Perhaps it is indeed known in circles and is one of those secrets people like to keep exclusively to themselves.
That said, I have enabled a lady who owned a new-age shop to use a pendulum in this way. I said to her that the hard work starts now, and she would have to practice and study.
Sadly, the lady concerned was out the next day telling people what they had for breakfast. Presumably to demonstrate her new talent. She did not listen. Perhaps that is why the technique is not publicly spoken of. With dowsing, there is a lot of practice and study involved. Indeed, dowsing can be considered a craft, and just like any other craft, one doesn't learn the knowledge skills required overnight.
I'll add to this thread when I have time, and would encourage others to contribute to the thread. Many dowsers have home-grown techniques, and those techniques are often more valuable and interesting than the text books.
