My wife used to give gift cars to people. I would ride her about it. She'd give a $25 gift card and pay another $2.50 on top of that for the card. I could not understand it. I said, "Just give the person $27.50. They'd surely prefer that."
She no longer does that foolishness. I don't know if she came around or just got tired of me ragging her about it.
I do not understand why people even use those stupid things.
ETA: I do understand, however, that they are often legitimately used to pay off traffic tickets and overdue taxes. Right?
