Yeah, I had to opt out of having people send me that crap. They didn't want to hear it, but I can't deal with sending a middleman a bunch of money to pretend we're exchanging gifts. I'd send one, they'd send one, and we were really just giving uninvolved parties a handout.

I was also the one that told everyone in the family to stop sending me chain emails and dad jokes when they all started getting on the Internet. I don't need to be on that mailing list.

Gift cards are just another scam. A middleman selling "convenience" that is inconvenient for everyone except the ones buying them and the ones making money on them. Some states cracked down on them, but they're still a scam.
