Nugget. There are houses like that, locations. It depends on the history. Home liquor distillation can attract deceased drunks who come for the alcohol vapours. If the distillation stops, it still takes time for the 'dark atmosphere' to wear off. Ouija and amateur witchcraft also attracts the dead and deceased witches.
So it becomes a question of what to do about it. We could try and shoo away the deceased. But more will come, and we get into unnecessary fights. Better to have a spring-clean and clear away what attracts them. My (shadow) housemate notices the 'dirt' in our home more than I and has me on a cleaning spree. I'm thinking of posting about the subject of cleaning for the Dowsing thread. Something for the future.
Ksihkehe, you've reminded me of my own troubles over the years with your mention of empaths. So many times I've felt out of place emotions, and thoughts. Then it occurred to me that those thoughts and feelings are probably not my own. We pick up things in the air. The question then becomes: who's are they?
I liked your doofus loci, that is very appropriate for some places.

I came up with a theory that explains empathic abilities, at least for me. Anything that's had an impact on my life can be felt soming from others. For instance, I have a major fear of flying, so someone mentions flying recently to visit family. I get an instant 'knowing' that they, too have the same fear. To test my theory I ask if they like to fly-to which the answer is 'heavens, no!".
It has created a stong gut instinct that has only failed me once-. I would stop at a convience store and the clerk there seemed to be a genuinelyi mice, friendly elderly man. It turns out he had been a hardened criminal his entire life, most of which had n=been spent in prison.
I did my homework on psycopaths after that, and hopefully I'll never be fooled by one again....now that I know thier 'energy'- or lack thereof.
What you aren't changing, you're choosing.

I like your observations here Nugget. The psychopath probably has a lack anything that we can pick up that resonates within our own being. They are blanks. I know I have experienced a similar thing with certain people.

There are evil people in the world withsome pretty strong psycopathic tendency, and I've met a few-too many! lol But, this was different. This guy was totally devoid of any emotional content and his job allowed him to create a persona through brief exchanges of pleasantries. It was when he opted for closer interaction with someone that his true, and eventually the depths of his depravity came out.
I hope I never meet anyone like that again.

Geez Nugget, I wouldn't want to meet someone like that either.
You've reminded me of something important, and since other people read this thread, I probably should write something in general.
The shadow world, and one finds deceased people there, is not much different to this one in that there are all sorts of people there. So when someone starts seeing and hearing things, I generally warn them to take care and treat what one meets as a stranger in the street. In a crowded place, we ordinarily hear the voices of physical people. Yet we don't listen to them, not unless we know them personally. So why listen to disembodied voices, either. The same with seeing things, we see things in the street every day. Yet we don't pay them any attention.
With children, I usually explain it in terms of stranger danger, and if they get scared to tell their mom and she will tell me.

On the theme of undesirables from the shadow world, in addition to the above, one might add that cleanliness is important.
I mentioned before that deceased alcoholics will go where the alcohol is made and soak in the liquor. I am aware that this is a problem for some vineyards in France. Occasionally I have opened a bottle of scotch and had it disagree with me the next morning. That bottle gets thrown out. Now, it is difficult to tell in advance, so I dowse the bottle before purchase for contamination with the dead. (I should mention this in the Dowsing thread). The home distillery should probably be cleaned and stored properly. I don't have one, so I can't say with authority.
Séance and Ouija boards are looking for trouble. I remember Ouija boards were sold at toy stores back in the sixties. Even displayed in the front windows. Hardly a toy "for ages six and above". Many an attendee at a séance has been followed home.
Drugs I shouldn't have to mention. Like alcohol, some deceased people will come to bathe in the smoke, especially if done regularly in the same place. Drug houses resonate in this way.
There is also the consideration of the location. A house on a fairy road can be the cause of deceased strangers walking through the house.
It is easy for me to say these things, don't do this, don't do that. It goes without saying that bringing up problems, one should provide solutions. Common sense basics aside, dowsing is one way to diagnose these things and over the years most of these things have been solved within dowsing organisations such as the British Dowsers and American Dowsers societies. I still have a basic book on dowsing on my shelf. Healing Sick Houses - Dowsing for healthy homes by Roy and Ann Procter. Western Geomancy has a lot of good articles and solutions.

Edit Reason: added after thought
)
The (shadow) girl is in her early teens and as most girls at that age, she has a crush on a (living) boy. She spends a lot of time with him.
So how can this be?
Well, the Buddhists say that this is the desire world, and I can agree with them here. Of course the Buddhists also say that to ascend to a "higher realm" and leave the desire world is a case of becoming desireless. It is a no-brainer to understand that the ticket into the desire world is to have a desire.
So it follows that everyone comes here with a desire. It also stands to reason that if that desire is fulfilled within that lifetime, we leave without regret. So unfulfilled desire is probably the biggest reason for people to stay behind. With youngsters who die early that desire wasn't realised, and just because they are in the afterlife / shadow world doesn't mean they magically become desireless and everything is resolved.
So that is my soft spot for this (shadow) girl, she has an unrequited crush on someone.
-------------------------
The Buddhists talk about the desire world as if it were a bad thing. - I have to disagree with them there.

Since the desire world and the desires that bring us here are a topic . . .
. . . and since the little people love to pose these things to humans.
Here is a riddle:
---------------------------------------
There are three transcendental treasures to be found within this mortal world.
Two of these treasures can only be discovered once in a lifetime.
Only when the first two treasures are known will the third treasure reveal itself to mortal eyes.
---------------------------------------
What are they?
I'll post the answer later. I promise to remember (probably).
