I Got Banned/Suspended!!!! My First Ever!

So, a cautionary tale!

Yesterday I was typing along, on DI and BOOM, kicked out.  WTH?  So I try to get back on.  Message pops up, (I thought it said I was banned originally, that's why I've been using that word) my account has been banned/suspended.

Now, in the last couple of days, I had been dogging a poster that thrives on being annoying as hell, and called them a liar, which they absolutely were, with proof of their posts.   I figured that was the reason.

I sent an email asking why it happened.

Well, I was wrong!  So last night, the email told me "outside recruitment" was not allowed.   Trust me, I had to look that up and think about it for a minute.  No clue at first.
So, then I realize.
I had sent 2 or 3 PM's the day or 2 before.  To some members that I actually like and had PM'd before.  I believe I actually mentioned worrying about being banned for calling that member a liar, and let them know I could be found here, if I was.

The problem of course, turned out to be that I added a link to this site.  Apparently that is "recruiting."  The censors picked it up?  (again, not savvy enough to even know that was a thing.   But one of the PM's I got back did say that it was blocked out with *****, so that should have been my first clue.  
But it certainly wasn't like I was being that one guy, with the JP initials that use to do it at ATS and other places.

It is funny though, because I used to send links on ATS, to several other sites, including DI all the time.   Never even got a warning for that!

At this point, it is what it is.  (Hubby hates that saying!)
The good news is, I didn't see the annoying member on the list here, so fingers crossed.
And by the way, If I ever become "THAT" annoying on here, please call me out.  I really need to know.
And I wear big girl panties and can handle it.    LOL

Welcome to a very prestigious club, Chiefsmom. I was banned from DI oops, that other site. I joined, and wrote them a thread about the 'little people' here in Australia. Next day the thread was gone and so was I. Mind you, that was after four or five bans on ATS over the years. Towards the end there I just kept adding the word "new" to my previous username.  I guess I got on 'that list' : )

I look at it as good luck, it is much better here, and glad I did not stay on that other site.

We're still young and growing here on CA, welcome aboard.

Strange reason to get banned!

The more I think about it today, the more I am a bit freaked out that they are censoring PM's.

Perhaps someone you PM'ed turned you in. Seems like I should have been banned there at some point as well.

Was the email from the site itself or the staff? Was it email or a private message? I think it's sort of important to know exactly who said what.

If what they told you is true than it is semantically accurate to say that DenyIgnorance is -at a minimum- using passive surveillance on private messages and partially unmasking the content of those messages with logs.

It sounds like in an effort to explain your ban they accidentally exposed the presence of a previously undisclosed surveillance and censorship program within the private message system.

I guess that will be one more thing that gets your posts removed for asking about it on DI... who has access to the private message logs and why weren't people told that their private messages were compromised by design?

I received it via email.   I'll PM You. Oh, but the part where I said "a PM I recieved back said it was blocked out with ***** That was from the member I tried to send the link to.

Sorry to hear about what happened Cm, but I'm not surprised, it's one of the many reasons I created this site. Actually, it was one of the reasons I created denyignorance.com, but that's a much longer story.

Things members can count on here:

• Your fucking Private Messages won't be monitored or censored (this one pisses me off, ffs).
  
• Even if I personally can't stand what you're saying, I won't censor you (unless it's related to PDF Files, Illegal Activity, and/or Solicitation). You can speak about ANY website or subject here, I'm a big boy, I can handle it.
  
• I won't let moderators play games, because, we don't have or need moderators here. Yes, technically Ksihkehe is a mod but he's more of a shotgun rider in my out of control truck, lol.
  
• I'm not interested in whether you're Left or Right, I'm more concerned about whether a member has common fucking sense, the rest will sort itself out. 
  
• This site was created because instead of subjecting myself to morons who have already proven they know how to run a website into the ground, have zero sense of communities and seem to be only interested in figuring out how to monetize and play overlord, I decided to start my own and run it with integrity and transparency, with a bent towards FREEDOM. 
  

We're still just starting out here but slowly growing with a great membership (which is just the way we like it).

Do I want a site where we go around in circles, pretending we're having a 'discussion' when we both know wtf is going on? 

Nah, that game is over, the political argue-loop. Time for the planning stages, I'm done pretending to GAF what 'they' think, seriously. 

Anyway, hoping to welcome more 'awake' members, soon ..

I am with you on the pm part. That is really bothering me and people need to know about that! And I can't believe that a couple of nice mods over there are ok with doing that.

It certainly is hard to know who to trust at this point.

Also, please don't misconstrue what I said about the mods, I'm friends with most of them, but you know what they say about a few bad apples ..
