Shadow People

I thought I should write a little about the new household member from the shadows. The girl is not an adult. If she were, she would not be here. The reason being is adults should learn to look after themselves. Kids, on the other hand, need some sort adult supervision.

Kids, be they living or deceased are vulnerable, especially girls.

In this, the other world is not that much different to this world. There are orphans, and there are a few adults who will prey on children.

So the relationship with the girl from the shadows is to provide somewhere safe. That is the thing about children, they need to feel safe and have familiar surroundings.  One does not have to be a substitute parent, uncle or anything else.  So don't even try.

The protection and safety is provided, and she will get used to the place in time.

That said, the girl will have to contribute to the household. Since she is in the shadow world, she notices things that I don't.

This may all seem rather mundane, but that is the reality.  It isn't floating furniture, handprints on the walls and bumps in the night.  I think the clue here is the young (shadow) lady is not feeling threatened. So why would she try to get rid of me. Keep in mind here her honest comment of (living) people as being "home wreckers".

(smile - and I may get into trouble with her for saying this : )  What makes a poltergeist, a poltergeist?

Well that may just be attitude, and a reason to be miserable and angry.

-------------------------------------------

We're making dinner and I was thinking about the word poltergeist. I feel the objection, the insult if you will, is the baggage that accompanies the words we use, the labels. Poltergeist has some unpleasant associations.

Quote:In German folklore and ghostlore, a poltergeist is a type of ghost or spirit that is responsible for physical disturbances, such as loud noises and objects being moved or destroyed. Most claims or fictional descriptions of poltergeists show them as being capable of pinching, biting, hitting, and tripping people. They are also depicted as capable of the movement or levitation of objects such as furniture and cutlery, or noises such as knocking on doors. Foul smells are also associated with poltergeist occurrences, as well as spontaneous fires and different electrical issues such as flickering lights.

Souce: wikipedia

The movie of the same name doesn't help.

Though I must say that floating furniture hasn't happened here. Smells do occure, but that has been the scent of vanilla. Other people notice that at times.

Still it isn't good practice to label "people".

The word "entity" is disliked too.

My own feeling on the matter is these names are labels. When we use labels we are not seeing them for who they are.

I am trying really, really hard to put myself in your shoes and see where you're coming from. I mean no disrespect, but what I see is a fantasy world creted from ones' imagination.

It may well be that I'm missing something vital, or my upbring and world perspective has created a divide that I can't mentally cross.

It seems to me that 99.999% of 'paranormal' are quite normal abilities we all have, but are unable to use (for the most part) because:

A) We don't know we have these abilities.

B) We don't know how to fully use them, for those who are aware.

C) Few, if any, have learned how to control them.

Because of my views on the matter I have looked at the PSI field and any research I can find to validate my position. I once read a university researh paper that was investigating the poltergeist phenomenon and in every case studied there was a prepubescent teen in residence. It made me wonder if the energy wasn't somehow connected to higher levels of fluctuating hormones that were unregualted.

Even if I try to take out ny obvious bias on the subject I just can't make a connection, other than I very much like your writing, and you! Maybe I'm just not meant to understand, but just enjoy the read?

Please don't take my words the wrong way; I mean no disrespect. I'm reminded of my fascination wiyth Greek mythology, and no matter how much I read and try to understand it makes little sense; too many gods with too many aliases for my brain to follow. It's like trying to read a family tree connecting all of humanity back to the very beginning.

I don't expect anyone to jump into these things, so don't worry Nugget.

One of the difficulties is translating these experiences into plain English without the jargon. The other difficulty perhaps for anyone who reads what I write is trying to place things into a framework of understanding. For example, if we are looking through Jungian coloured glasses, we can't connect to what is beyond Jung.  In a way, I feel Jung had a job to do and that was to disconnect people from a deeper, connected way of perceiving. You made that suggestion yourself.

Decades ago I had a large library of occult, theosophical and philosophical books.  I was proudly encyclopedic in that I could quote passages till the cows come home. Then one day I realised that was all book learning. I did not know anything first hand. That is generally crushing to the ego, and it takes quite some time to get used to knowing nothing at all. What I did was simply decided to learn everything first hand for myself. In other words, I made the effort to forget everything I thought I knew.  Everything else happened on its own when I did that. I just found my place with the deceased for the most part. A lot of help is needed there. (sad smile) the Anubis (plural) are overworked and dour, and the renumeration is lousy. No one wants to do this work any more.

I guess I write in the way I do to bring things down to earth in a very mundane way.

Perhaps too mundane?
