I thought I should write a little about the new household member from the shadows. The girl is not an adult. If she were, she would not be here. The reason being is adults should learn to look after themselves. Kids, on the other hand, need some sort adult supervision.
Kids, be they living or deceased are vulnerable, especially girls.
In this, the other world is not that much different to this world. There are orphans, and there are a few adults who will prey on children.
So the relationship with the girl from the shadows is to provide somewhere safe. That is the thing about children, they need to feel safe and have familiar surroundings. One does not have to be a substitute parent, uncle or anything else. So don't even try.
The protection and safety is provided, and she will get used to the place in time.
That said, the girl will have to contribute to the household. Since she is in the shadow world, she notices things that I don't.
This may all seem rather mundane, but that is the reality. It isn't floating furniture, handprints on the walls and bumps in the night. I think the clue here is the young (shadow) lady is not feeling threatened. So why would she try to get rid of me. Keep in mind here her honest comment of (living) people as being "home wreckers".
(smile - and I may get into trouble with her for saying this : ) What makes a poltergeist, a poltergeist?
Well that may just be attitude, and a reason to be miserable and angry.

We're making dinner and I was thinking about the word poltergeist. I feel the objection, the insult if you will, is the baggage that accompanies the words we use, the labels. Poltergeist has some unpleasant associations.
The movie of the same name doesn't help.
Though I must say that floating furniture hasn't happened here. Smells do occure, but that has been the scent of vanilla. Other people notice that at times.
Still it isn't good practice to label "people".
The word "entity" is disliked too.
My own feeling on the matter is these names are labels. When we use labels we are not seeing them for who they are.
